As an integral part of Greater Bordeaux’s transport network, travel by Bat³ (pronounced BatCoob) is included in all TBM tickets.
The river shuttle is handy for going to work, college and a whole range of other locations. It connects the two banks of the river and links up with the three tram routes and the interchanges at Stalingrad, Quinconces and Cité du Vin.
2 catamarans, 7 days a week
The two catamarans (Hirondelle and Gondole) run every weekday from 7am to 7:30pm and 8:45am to 8pm on weekends. There are additional crossings on busy days and at rush hour! Click here to see arrival times at each pier.
Services at 5 piers, depending on the timetable: STALINGRAD, QUINCONCES, LES HANGARS, THE CITÉ DU VIN AND LORMONT BAS, and they all connect with a number of different services

Handy info on using river shuttles
Bat3 is a river shuttle so it has a few unusual features:
Crew
There’s always a captain and deckhand on board a Bat3. They’re the Bat3 crew. The deckhand is like a bus conductor and is authorised to sell tickets. He or she is responsible for helping passengers board the boat and then disembark at the end of the journey. The deckhand also moors the boat with the captain. The captain is in charge of steering the Bat3 from one pier to another. He or she is also responsible for passenger safety and has overall responsibility on board.
Passengers
The boat can hold 65 passengers, including 2 wheelchair users. There are no age restrictions. There are two spaces at the front of the boat for wheelchair users.
Boarding and disembarking
The crew will tell passengers when they can embark and disembark. You must get off the boat at the terminal.
Your bicycle
Up to 6 bicycles are permitted on each Bat3 crossing. The figure may be less during busy periods.
Good to know:
- You must get off the boat at the terminal.
- You can pay by card on Bat3 services.
- If you want to buy a €2 Tickarte on board a Bat3, please pay with coins.
- There are no Bat3 services on 1st May.
- Some spaces at the front of the boat are reserved for individuals with disabilities. Please be considerate and offer your seat to those who need it most.
- You must validate your card or ticket, even when you’re just changing services.
- Pushchairs are permitted on board but must be folded up if the boat is busy.
- Download the Bat³ information leaflet here or ask for one at a TBM ticket office.
